Picture
- I'm aware that there's a glare on the right side of this photo of the painting. This is such a simple composition that I felt impelled to convey depth ( besides the out-of-focus leaves vs. the sharply 'in-focus' moon ) by going over the blue sky with multiple layers of clear and blue and violet-tinted glazes. - so, as it has such a high sheen, it was next-to-impossible to not get some kind of glare!
The couple who bought this - Helena, really - are my favorite kind of 'buyers' ; she didn't go on about how great the show was or how awesome my paintings were - she wanted this painting - this moon painting got under her skin and she had to have it.
I don't feel bad presenting an imperfect photo of it on my site - my paintings have imperfect surfaces - they're not 'machined' - I make images with oil paint and brushes made out of animal hair. The surfaces are always slightly pitted and imperfect, like the Moon.
